Building Your First Power Apps Portal

Building Your First Power Apps Portal

powerappslogoHave you worked with Power Apps Portals? Power Apps Portals were made generally available in the fall of 2019. This powerful new feature creates web portals that surface data stored in Common Data Service (CDS) to employees or users outside their organizations. In this video I’ll show you how to create your first Power Apps Portal form and log data from an anonymous or authenticated user from various authentication methods such as Microsoft AD or Facebook for instance.

This feature is a great way to expose things like forms or basic applications as a website to your end users. Power Apps Portals require Common Data Services (CDS) as a model. You’ll create the entity in that model to store your data. You’ll also need forms on that CDS model.

Once that is done, you create the Portal and it creates a basic website for you in which you can store the data inside of. The video below walks you through the process of creating a Power Apps Portal step by step.

This application that I walk you through is a simple one, these get a lot more elaborate as you get deeper into these Portals. My next videos will focus on styling the site and the Portal, as well as get into what else we can do besides forms with this feature.
