Power Apps Portals Entity Lists and Record Level Security

Power Apps Portals Entity Lists and Record Level Security

powerappslogoWant to learn how to show a Common Data Services (CDS) entity on a Power App Portal? In this video I’ll explain how to show data in a Power App Portal page with Entity Lists and to secure it so it will only show the user’s own data with Entity Permissions and Web Roles.

Power Apps Portals has the ability to only show you data inside that portal using Common Data Services as the data source and Entity Lists on the backend. There are several ways you can view those entities; I’ll walk you through the Entity List method in my demo. I’ll be using an entity I have called dependents which is a list of children that parents have.

This video will teach you how to prepare your entity to build relationships between an entity and a user. I’ll then demonstrate how to send invitations to the user to put them in a given role. Lastly, you’ll see how to display the entity's data on an Entity List and protect the entity to where a user can only see his or her own data (or in this case, his or her children).

Watch my complete demo below as I take you step by step through this process.
